My Thanksgiving Table

MY THANKSGIVING TABLE

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday. It really gets me in the mood for the upcoming holiday season and reminds me to take a moment to be thankful for all of the blessings around me.

This is the first year I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house, and I feel so honored to have my loved ones around my table this year. My dining room table was my great grandmother’s, and I am so lucky to have it. It was originally turquoise blue from the 70’s, so I sanded it down and painted it black. The vintage black table is a statement piece that I love decorating for every holiday. When my husband and I got married we registered for a nice set of “holiday” dishes, and I am so excited to break them out for this special occasion. This table is made up of some old pieces, some new pieces, and some DIY decorations I am going to share with you. I am a bargain shopper for sure, so I will share some good steals that I found this year to complete this holiday look!

The plates

These are the plates we registered for when we got married. They are still sold at West Elm, and the collection is called Fishs Eddy Metallic Gilded Stoneware. I love the classic, vintage inspired look. You can really dress up or down these dishes. The chargers are from Hobby Lobby, and they are a part of their yearly holiday sale. I love the texture they bring to the table. The gold “thankful” text is also on sale at Hobby Lobby.

The glasses and silverware

The gold rimmed glasses have two sizes, a tall highball and a short whisky glass. These are from Amazon. They arrived in three days and were very affordable. The gold flatware is also from Amazon, and it had good reviews, I love the way they stand out on my black table and compliment the gold accents on the plate.

The pumpkins

The pumpkins are my favorite part of the table. What’s a thanksgiving table without pumpkins? I could only find orange and white pumpkins in the stores, so I knew I would have to get crafty to make them work with my color scheme. I shopped the Hobby Lobby holiday sale for half-off foam pumpkins that had removable stems. I used a Champaign and gold spray paint to create the ombré look. The stems looked a little cheap to me, so I shopped for ceramic knobs to stick down in the pumpkins where the stems were. After the paint and hardware, these pumpkins have an awesome look. The best part was how affordable this was! This is an easy way to customize your table.

The details

This is a really formal look, but the rest of my home is more casual, To tie everything together, I used pieces that resemble the look of this table and carried them throughout other parts of my home. The petit four stand in the photo is part of the Fishs Eddy collection. I will serve little pastries on the stand for Thanksgiving. I also used matching candle sticks and more pumpkins to decorate. Lastly, I added black velvet ribbon to my gold table runner and used the ribbon again throughout my house. If you are trying to add a color in to a table use ribbon! It is affordable and easy to work with.
I hope you and your family can enjoy some time together safely this year, If the weather is nice I might just move this whole table outside so we can more easily socially distance. If you are eating off paper plates and watching football game, staying home for the first time this year or spending the holiday at a restaurant, count your blessings and stay grateful. Happy holidays from Sorted in Style!
